O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
Oh Jerusalem, the golden,
Where God's praises ever ring;
Heav'nly choirs to Thee beholden,
"Holy, Holy, Holy!" sing.
Oh, when will God grant to me
Thy glad citizen to be!

In this pilgrim habitation,
In the heat of trials severe,
Ere our suff'ring finds cessation,
Pain and strife assail us here.
But the Lord gives hope and strength
To prevail, through faith, at length.

Ah, how much I long to meet Thee,
Jesus, my soul's bosomfriend,
There on Salem's peaceful pastures,
Where our tears and sighs will end,
Where in glory, light and grace,
We shall see God face to face.

Come and lead us full of gladness,
Gentle Shepherd, by Thy hand,
After all this pain and sadness,
Into that true Fatherland,
Where the living waters free
Quench our thirst eternally.

O that chosen, holy dwelling,
Full of bliss and fair delight!
O that I, on soaring pinions,
Might arise from this world's night,
That new city there to see,
Where my Lord the sun shall be!

But if I must longer tarry
On this wild, tempestuous sea,
Where on frail bark I am sailing,
Storms and waves are tossing me,
Though the cross and death I see,
Still let hope my anchor be!

Then I'll have no fear of sinking,
Be the ocean e'er so wild;
I shall see Thy beacon beaming
From the landing, clear and mild.
Thou, by its consoling ray,
Into port wilt show the way.
