Born: November 28, 1812, Trondheim, Norway.

Died: May 23, 1887, Christiana, Norway.

Buried: Vor Frelsers (Our Savior’s) Church, Oslo, Norway. A bust of Lindeman was erected in 1912 outside the church.

Lindeman studied both theology and music, and became an organist at Vor Frelsers Church in Oslo (the church was renamed to Oslo Domkirke (cathedral) in 1950). Son of a concert pianist, Lindeman was one of the leading Norwegian musicians of the 19th Century, and served as organist at Vor Frelsers Church for 47 years. He also collected almost 2,000 Norwegian folk tunes, publishing many in a 3-volume set (1853-1867). His other works include:
