Born: February 27, 1843, Schenectady, New York.

Died: March 17, 1911, Brooklyn, New York.

Peek worked as a carpenter, farmer and drug store clerk before serving in the American civil war. He then pursued the role of florist from 1881 to 1904, then became a Methodist lay minister and traveled throughout America, including Maine, Florida, and California. Though lacking formal musical training, he played the violin, piano, and banjo. A member of the Nostrand-DeKalb Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York, he became a fully ordained minister two months before his death.
