Be true; be true! The Lord is by thee standing;
Joyful with Him at last will be the ending!
Tho' hard the strife and long the conflict be,
Through faithfulness the Lord will honored be!
Be true; be true! For God has crowns awaiting,
Wherewith forever He'll be compensating;
But only if in pain and in distress,
Unto the death we prove our faithfulness.

Then we are lost, for Satan is not sleeping;
And if we are not watchful at the post,
That which we once had won will all be lost.

Have proven true, deserve our commendation.

Who weak, who strong, who true or untrue be?
O, faithful Lord, Thy love and truth sincerely
Thou dost bestow on us each day so clearly,
So grant that we also each day anew
Become more faithful, loving, kind, and true!
