Behold! There in Gethsemane,
The Lord endures death's agony;
He strives within His soul!
See how He to His knees doth fall!
Bitter the cup, yet He drinks all.
Behold! To earth He falleth there;
The Holy Lord our sins must bear
In sorrows overwhelmed!
Yet hear Him pray, submissive still:
"Not as I will, but as Thou wilt!"
Behold! When sorrows grip thy soul,
Naught can thy burdened heart console
And anguished tears o'erflow;
Then learn from Christ through darkest night
To trust thy Lord and God aright!
