O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
I long for home in yon blest land,
Drawn on by love's holy band!
At home! O what a pleasant place!
T'ward home I now have set my face.
Homeward! O what a thrilling word!
Home to my Father and my Lord!
Home to my Father's house I'd go,
And leave behind this worldly woe!

In pilgrim's dale I yet must dwell
Among the friends I love so well;
Yet ever turns my longing heart
That peace at Home might be my part.
At home, there longs my soul to be!
At home from pain and sorrow free!
At home, where I shall find delight,
And bliss eternal shall abide,

Tho' I am far removed from home,
From place to place I yet must roam.
Yet ever turns my longing mind
To my dear Father, good and kind.
Homeward, I'm not contented here
On this dark world and evil sphere!
The scornful host now grieves me sore;
For home I'm longing more and more.

No longer would I here sojourn,
Therefore my heart to God does turn,
Who leads me from this tearful vale
Home, where delight and joy prevail.
Learn patience then, my weary heart,
Lest yearning cause you pain and smart!
Hold still for you cannot go home
Until the Father bids you come!
