O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
My parting hour is nearing swiftly,
As many friends have gone before.
Soon shall the thorny path be finished
Which leads to rest on yonder shore.

My angel ofttimes comes and whispers
That my allotted days are few;
That I must haste with pray'r and watching
If yonder goal I wish to view.

And should the night of death approaching
Awaken fear or dread in me,
I'll trust and look to Him with courage,
Who promised me the victory.

O Jesus, Lord of my salvation,
Let death not find me unprepared!
But lead me by Thy hand of mercy
Where peace and rest to me are shared.

O Thou, who over death hast triumphed,
Give me the Vict'ry over death!
When helplessly I sink, give power
To hold Thee fast in my last breath.

Thus gently rests the weary Pilgrim,
From every burden, toil and care,
Till he awakes on that blest morning
To rise in glory, bright and fair.
