Thy word, O Lord, forever is
The mirror where we see
Our faults and duties as they are,
Our likeness unto Thee.
Can we our imperfections see
Without a humble sigh?
Should we neglect God's precious word,
And lightly pass it by?
His word obey and warning take;
His wisdom will prevail.
For if we know, and heed it not,
It is of no avail.
Salvation through our faith is found;
No works of law we need.
Though baptized, yet our hope is vain
If we His word don't heed.
The wrath of God lies on the world,
On whom its ways pursue,
Yet grace enough is found in God
To live in Him anew.
