O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
Is there any pleasure
In life here on earth?
In what lot and measure
Have we peace and mirth?
Here where sin prevaileth,
Fear, distress and need,
For naught here availeth;
Death we all must meet.

Moved to weep with sadness,
Were no Saviour here;
Joy has come in fullness,
Since Christ did appear.
He who comes confessing:
"My Lord and my God!"
And with joy expressing,
Blessed is his lot.

Tears of joy I bring Thee,
Jesus, Man of pain,
That Thou, Lord, didst call me,
To Thy flock ordain.
With Thy love's persuasions
Thou my heart didst win,
Guided me with patience,
Have Thee still within.

I have happy hours;
With Thee I am blest!
Finding in Thee power,
When I am distressed.
I was all unworthy
And a wayward child;
Now I have found mercy
In Thy love so mild.

Is this not a pleasure,
Christian, here to be?
Seek ye all this treasure,
Jesus offers free!
If man knew the blessing,
We enjoy in Thee,
Far more would be willing
Now to follow Thee.

But with all their pleasure,
Christians have their grief;
Still in every failure,
They shall find relief.
From His home in heaven,
God looks down on them,
When His grace is given,
They press on again.

Then He shall come gently,
Lead us by His hand
From our weary journey
To the Father-land.
There when strife is over,
Praise to God we'll bring,
With the righteous chorus
"Hallelujah" sing!
