O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
The sun has set, the evening shades
Of night are drawing nigh.
Now all the weary go to rest
And those who weep and sigh.

Thou dost not slumber, Lord, nor sleep
In day or darkest night.
There is no darkness, Lord, with Thee,
For Thou, Thyself art light.

Remember be, Oh gracious Lord,
Throughout the dark'ning night.
May Guardian angels hov'ring o'er
Protect me by their might.

And should I die in this dark night
O take me, Lord, to Thee.
And bring me to Thy heav'nly home
With Thine elect to be.

It is my wish, Lord God of Hosts,
To live and die in Thee;
In life and death, in grief or woe,
Dear Lord, remember me.
