This is my grief and my distress;
My faultiness I must confess,
My love should be more fervent.
From day to day my want I feel
That God deserves a love more real
From me, His humble servant.
From Thee,
Give me,
Of Thy merit,
In my spirit,

Love and charity bestowing.
In justice this shall be my plea:
O Jesus, let my pleasure be
To love Thee more sincerely,
In love and truth to exercise
All that is pleasing in Thine eyes
And Thy word shows so clearly,
