Lyrics
Oh, woeful the day that Jesus was slain,
When on the cruel cross He bore all my shame.
Forsaken, and bleeding, He suffered alone,
He looked unto God, My sins He did own.
Thou from bitter cup did taste it for me,
That I, when in sin, could stand before Thee.
Dear Saviour, Thy love and compassion for me
Shall move me in faith To Heav'n, unto Thee.
Oh, grant that in faith, I faithful may be!
O, grant that in death, Thy face I may see!
For me, Thy blood spilt, and for me Thou didst groan,
A sinner, redeemed, And my heart Thy Throne!
Thy blood, it still flows, as we take the cup.
We think of Thy death as oft as we sup.
The loaf to remind us of Thy body torn.
Our sins unto death, Thou, Saviour, hast borne.
