O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
There is a heav'nly rest awaiting,
Arise, sad heart, and now rejoice!
Thou sighest here, in bonds complaining,
Dark is thy sun, and still thy voice.
Behold the Lamb, who soon shall lead thee,
Before God's throne on high to feed thee,
Cast off thy sorrow and thy woe.
Soon Satan's host shall be defeated,
Soon thy sad journey be completed.
To rest in comfort thou shalt go.

This heav'nly rest, which is eternal,
Hath God created for His blest.
E'er man was made, or forest vernal,
His love ordained for us this rest.
The Lamb of God did gladly perish,
That we this blessed rest might cherish.
It calls to mankind, far and near,
"Ye holy men, and weary mortals,
Make haste to enter at the portals
Where rest eternal shall appear."

"So come to me, ye worn and weary,
Who earthly weights and burdens bear.
Let not your countenance be dreary,
Be no more bended by despair,"
Ye bore the burden without falling,
To you the Master now is calling,
"Upon my bosom ye shall rest.
For you, my flock, I'm battle waging,
Tho' sin and world, and hell be raging,
So enter in with all the blest.

"

There ev'ry lab'rer shall be bringing
Ripe sheaves of joy, from tearsown fields.
Oh hear the victor's chorus singing
Through heaven's halls the music peals.
There pain and suff'ring find an ending,
No access there shall death be finding,
There we shall see God face to face.
He'll dry our tears with hand caressing;
The stream of life shall be refreshing
Beyond all hopes we now embrace.

In peaceful rest we there shall tarry,
And live from cares and suff'rings free,
Embrace these words of hope, ye weary,
And to the Saviour's bosom flee!
Prepare yourselves, we must move onward;
These days of grace must not be squandered!
The joyous host awaits us there.
My soul, 'tis time for jubilation,
Join now in triumph's exultation!
Now comes the year of rest so fair!
