SATB Arr. by Andrew David Klaus
Lyrics
The light and strength of faith, Lord, give me,
Whereby the Spirit's fruit is shown;
A fruitful branch, O Saviour, make me,
Which from the one true vine is grown!
Thou art my rock and firm foundation,
The Saviour who has brought salvation.
I build my faith on Thy word true!
When I must stand amid temptations,
Let me not miss Thy ministrations,
Thy cov'nant Lord, in me renew.
My hope in Thee will never vanish;
O let Thy cross its anchor be,
And may by it all fear be banished;
My comfort I shall find in Thee!
The world in vanity abideth,
But my heart, Lord, in Thee confideth,
Thou fount of light, and grace untold.
I'll e'er embrace Thee with affection.
Thou wilt not leave me in affliction,
For Thy love never waxeth cold.
Thy suff'ring leads me to submission,
And to the lowliness of heart!
Who seeks Thee must avoid pride's greatness;
The proud and vain are far apart
From Thy humility and meekness;
Yet he who knows his need and weakness
Thou from the dust dost elevate.
Engrave Thy likeness on my spirit,
That I Thy humbleness inherit
And hasten on to heaven's gate.
If I must tarry here a season,
I live because it pleaseth Thee;
So, too, when death shall call, Thy reason
Shall cause my soul content to be.
O let my life in Thee be hidden;
Thy death encourage me when bidden
To leave this vale of misery.
I bow my will to Thine, dear Saviour;
Upon this truth I ponder ever:
Naught, naught shall break our unity.
Whereby the Spirit's fruit is shown;
A fruitful branch, O Saviour, make me,
Which from the one true vine is grown!
Thou art my rock and firm foundation,
The Saviour who has brought salvation.
