O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
When God did create the planets
Through His Word's almighty tenets,
Out of dark and silent night,
All the earth was void and cheerless,
Till God's Word with might and clearness
Filled it with His glorious light.

As a poor and helpless infant
Lay the earth in ev'ry instant
Until light His Word did give.
God's true Spirit on the waters
Brought about important matters
So that man on earth could live.

When He had all things created,
This great planet had completed,
Lastly He created man
In the likeness of His Maker,
That he should be a partaker
Of the good gifts in His plan.

But, alas! man soon transgressed
And thus lost his Eden blessed;
He believed not God's true Word;
Stubbornly refused to hear it,
Spurned the leading of the Spirit,
And would not obey the Lord.

God pronounced on man the sentence,
For his sin and disobedience
And his scorn of grace and faith!
Then to cleanse the earth of sinning
And to make a new beginning
He decreed a healing faith.

All bold sinners, helpless, crying,
In the deluge dread were dying,
Buried in one watery grave.
Death, begotten of transgression,
Comes to them without compassion,
And no one is found to save.

One alone did heed the warning,
One just man true wisdom learning
From the teaching of God's Word.
Noah, by God's hand delivered,
With his wife and children entered
In the cov'nant with the Lord.

This creation is reflected
Unto Christ and His elected
Who in this blest union stand;
Who by grace escape destruction,
Live no more to see corruption.
In baptismal grace they stand.
