Composer Philip Phillips Philip Phillips's bio information August 13, 1834 - June 25, 1895 Born: August 13, 1834, Chautauqua County, New York. Died: June 25, 1895, Delaware, Ohio. Buried: Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia, New York. Known as “The Singing Pilgrim,” Phillips began teaching singing school at age 19. In 1860, he formed a partnership in Cincinnati, Ohio, with Wm. Sumner & Co., under the firm name of Phillip Phillips & Co., to sell pianos, organs, and Sunday school songbooks. Phillips frequently introduced himself in a town by putting a melodeon in a vehicle, parking on a prominent street corner, and begin to sing and play. His marvelous voice drew large crowds. In 1875, Phillips went on a tour of Australia, conducting over one hundred song services. He returned to New York two years later, by way of Sri Lanka, India, Japan, Jerusalem, Egypt, Italy, Europe, and England. He wrote Round the World with Descriptive Songs about the experience. Arranger A. H. M. A. H. M.'s bio information June 27, 1960 - Born in the Van Wert Ohio Hospital on June 27, 1960, Alvin (Bud) Herman Manz, Jr. was the 3rd of 4 sons born to Betty Manz and firstborn to her second husband, Alvin. His older siblings, John Paul Rose, Jr. (1956) and Joseph Henry Rose (1957), were born to John Paul Rose. In 1958, John Sr. passed away leaving Betty with 2 little boys to care for until she met Alvin Manz and got married to him on October 3, 1959. Bud's younger sibling, Robert James Manz, Sr., was born on August 23, 1961. Bud never married, instead lives with his father just south of Defiance Ohio.
