Music from the Apostolic Christian Hymnal # 311
Lyrics
When earth's few trials once are ended,
Eternity awaits the blest.
Our cries, which oft to God ascended,
Will there be turned to peaceful rest.
Here virtue doth pursue its ways;
The world to come will sing its praise.
There I shall offer my thanks givings
To Him who bade me choose God's way.
And wish Him there a million blessings
For His kind call when I did stray.
There I shall meet in heaven's height,
The Friend who bro't my soul delight.
Oh, may God grant it that up yonder
Some ransomed soul might say to me,
"God bless thee for when I did wander
In sin I saw God's light in thee."
How blest indeed must be the part
Of Him who saves a sinful heart!
What are earth's trials and afflictions,
Compared with Heaven's glories fair?
Which God forever with His children
In yonder mansions once will share?
In no wise can with these compare
This moment, short, of earthly care!
Eternity awaits the blest.
Our cries, which oft to God ascended,
Will there be turned to peaceful rest.
Here virtue doth pursue its ways;
The world to come will sing its praise.
There I shall offer my thanks givings
To Him who bade me choose God's way.
And wish Him there a million blessings
For His kind call when I did stray.
There I shall meet in heaven's height,
The Friend who bro't my soul delight.
Oh, may God grant it that up yonder
Some ransomed soul might say to me,
"God bless thee for when I did wander
In sin I saw God's light in thee."
How blest indeed must be the part
Of Him who saves a sinful heart!
What are earth's trials and afflictions,
Compared with Heaven's glories fair?
Which God forever with His children
In yonder mansions once will share?
In no wise can with these compare
This moment, short, of earthly care!
