O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
When past are these short days of trial,
Then comes the blest eternity;
There, after cross and self-denial,
We shall divine contentment see.
If here we labor for the Lord,
In Heav'n we'll gain a rich reward.

There I'll find rest for which I'm yearning;
Transfigured, holy shall I be;
And then a life of overcoming
Of untold worth will be to me;
My loving Father then I'll see
And praise Him there eternally.

In Heav'n I shall perceive more clearly
What now on earth I dimly see;
There I'll define as wondrous, holy,
What here perplexing seems to me;
And then I'll praise God when I see
His will in its entirety.

There I shall offer glad thanksgiving
To Christ who called me to God's way,
And wish Him there eternal blessings,
For mercy when I was astray;
There I shall meet at God's right hand
My Saviour and my dearest Friend!

Oh may God grant it that up yonder
Some ransomed soul might say to me:
"God bless thee! For when I did wander
In sin, I saw God's light in thee."
Blest is God's child who lends support
When Jesus saves a sinful heart.

What are these earthly tribulations
Compared to Heaven's glories fair,
Which we, in endless revelation,
Eternally with Christ shall share?
How brief shall seem this earthly woe
With which we struggle here below!
