Born: May 21, 1841, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.

Died: February 17, 1903, Penrarth, Wales.

Buried: St. Augustine’s Church, Penarth, Wales.

Parry’s family moved to Danville, Pennsylvania, when he was 13 years old, though he often returned to Wales. He attended the Royal Academy of Music, 1868-1871. He was Professor of Music at the University of Wales, 1873-1877, and received his doctorate of music from Cambridge in 1878. He also taught at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire (1888-1903). His works include operas, oratorios, cantatas, piano pieces, and hymn tunes.
