At age 33, Bowring became editor of the Westminster Review. An accomplished linguist, it has been said he was fluent in over 20 languages and could speak 80 more; he was known for his translations of Dutch poetry. He was also one of the preeminent British statesmen of his day: Commissioner to France, Consul at Canton, Minister Plenipotentiary to China, Governor of Hong Kong, and twice a member of Parliament. Queen Victoria knighted him in 1854. His works include:

Parry’s family moved to Danville, Pennsylvania, when he was 13 years old, though he often returned to Wales. He attended the Royal Academy of Music, 1868-1871. He was Professor of Music at the University of Wales, 1873-1877, and received his doctorate of music from Cambridge in 1878. He also taught at the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire (1888-1903). His works include operas, oratorios, cantatas, piano pieces, and hymn tunes.

Born in the Van Wert Ohio County Hospital on June 27, 1960, Alvin (Bud) Herman Manz, Jr. was the 3rd of 4 sons born to Betty Manz and firstborn to her second husband, Alvin.

His older siblings, John Paul Rose, Jr. (1956) and Joseph Henry Rose (1957), were born to John Paul Rose. In 1958, John Sr. passed away leaving Betty with 2 little boys to care for until she met Alvin Manz and got married to him on October 3, 1959.

Bud's younger sibling, Robert James Manz, Sr., was born on August 23, 1961.

Bud never married, instead he lives with his father just south of Defiance Ohio.
