Born: April 18, 1786, Luzern (Lucerne), Switzerland.
Died: August 27, 1868, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Von Wartensee studied music in Vienna, but settled in Frankfurt, Germany, where he taught and composed. He was especially known for his recitals on the glass harmonica. The Schnyder von Wartensee Foundation in Zürich published his biography Lebenserinnerungen von Xaver Schnyder von Wartensee in 1887.
