Oh who among the sons of men,
By word or song or deed or pen,
Can ever fittingly convey
The meaning of this blessed day,
It gilds the holy sacred page,
It brings to ev'ry clime and age,
To ev'ry people tribe and race
The story of redeeming grace.
The blessed Paschal feast of old,
With mystic meaning does unfold.
For there the Paschal Lamb was slain,
The Hebrew's safety to attain.
When angels saw the blood applied,
Upon the lintel, doorpost wide
Then they pass'd over every home
In mercy, where the blood was shown.
Christ is the world's dear Paschal Lamb
He is the great "I was, I Am"
Through Calv'ry's pain and dismal gloom,
He conquered over death and tomb.
He rose His own to justify,
And draws all men up to the sky,
If you have found the Christ, His way,
Then you can keep this Easter day.
