The bright'ning shades of evening swell,
Their beauty, in splendor bright,
Will lead me on to morning's light!
To walk streets of shining gold,
Side by side with the saints of old!
There in peace and joy sublime,
Repear the story of all time!
Thou, O God, in love and grace
Removed my sin, e'en the last trace!
By Thy dear Son's precious gift,
Pulled back together ev'ry rift!
I praise Thee! Oh, keep my heart!
And give Thy grace, set me apart.
When I reach that heav'nly shore,
