O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
Once Christ was just a distant one I'd come to serve someday,
But at my heart's door He would knock and when I'd listen He would say:
"Oh, child of pleasure, sin and pride,
Open wide the door.
I will come in and sup with you,
And you'll want no more."

I knew He was the only way, but still I would not heed;
Satan so fully ruled my life that I could barely hear Christ plead;
"Why do you walk the world's wide path?
Troubles never cease!
If you will only follow Me,
You will find true peace."

Christ worked within my heart,
And a true miracle He wrought;
My life was changed from night to day,
From Satan's prison I was brought.
"I will forgive you all your sins,
He did say to me.
If you repent and change your life,
You'll be fully free."

Now I am walking by His side,
And I have naught to fear;
When trials come and Satan appears,
A whispered pray'r brings Jesus near,
"I will not leave you comfortless,
I will come to you.
I will not leave you comfortless,
I will see you through."

He will come back to earth some day
To claim His bride, His own;
I want to meet Him on that day,
And go with Him to my new home.
"Oh child, be faithful— watch and pray,
Spread the gospel true.
Make sure you're ready for the Day
When I come for you."
