O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
How blest who ponders on his end
For life on earth is fleeting;
And who on death does meditate
True watchfulness is heeding;
Then in his soul is set a goal,
All worldly ease denying,
On God alone relying.

For none his final day can know,
God only knows the measure.
And blest is he who prays to God,
In heav'n lays up his treasure.
So teach me, Lord, such deeds record
That while on earth I'm living,
For heav'n I'm daily striving.

A Christian journeys heavenward
For there lies his true treasure;
And though the way be rough and steep,
Devoid of earthly pleasure,
By faith he sees that home of peace
And struggles, praying, singing,
In faith to God still clinging.

So while I live, I'll live for Thee;
For Thee my heart is longing,
And when death stands before my door
For heaven I'll be yearning.
In Jesus' blood, death turns to good
And in His faithful keeping,
Serenely I'll be sleeping.
