Lord Jesus, Thou our light now be,
And sentinel this night!
We place our faith and hope in Thee,
Thy mercy, grace and might.
Thou didst for us this day create
Which now has passed away;
With life, salvation and Thy grace
Hast filled our hearts each day!
Therefore we praise Thy holy love,
Unspeakable and great,
That ever floweth from above
And free for all to take!
In this dark night of unbelief,
When loud its billows roar,
Afford protection and relief,
Grant courage evermore!
O hold us fast while we are here
Upon our pilgrim way,
Until our journey we complete
With Thee fore'er to stay!
Yea, lead us where Thy rest is shared
In Father's house secure,
And where a mansion is prepared
To Him who shall endure!
