Soon shall mankind awaken,
God's day shall then appear.
The world will then be shaken
With vengeance and with fear.
Soul, do now start,
Prepare thy heart,
Awaken from sin's slumber
So that thy God,
With judging rod
Will find thee without cumber.

The Lord will part the pages,
To look into the book,
He'll see down through the ages
All who of sin partook.
And then with shame
Into the flame,
The host of sinners goeth,
And there in vain,
In constant pain,
Repentance from them floweth.

For them He is preparing
Disfavor, wrath and gall.
No shield from pain He's sharing,
No hills on them shall fall.
The tortured heart
From fire will smart,
To them no death He's sending.
O, what great pain
That shall not wane,
For death gives them no ending.

As Thou dost judge the sinner,
With judgment sure and right,
Help me, the helpless sinner,
Find favor in Thy sight.
Lord, through Thy grace,
My sins erase,
That I might flee Thy judgment.
Help me prepare,
To praise Thee there
And at Thy throne be present.
