Lyrics
There is an old beloved church I've known for many years,
A refuge for the weary soul and those in trials and tears.
In its repose and quietness we seem so far removed
From earth's tumult and war and strife, for there the heart is soothed.
Now this old church is dearer yet since I have been redeemed,
For there God called me through His Word; gave peace like glory seemed.
We love to gather there each week and sing with one accord;
There is a balm in melody ascending to our Lord.
When carried through its portals and I know my church no more,
May God bless it and help my friends to walk t'ward heaven's door.
Chorus:
Jesus knows this sacred place, for He is always there.
He loves to come and talk with us in accents sweet and fair!
We love to gather there each week and sing with one accord;
