O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
My Lord, what pain didst Thou have to bear
For such an one as this poor soul?
What grief and turmoil didst Thou there endure
For me, the one, who nailed Thee there?
O, Saviour, the cross, Thou didst bear for me?

The cross was there for Thee to carry
Upon the way to Calv'ry's brow.
What shame, reproach, yea, even suffer loss,
And on the cross for me tarry?
Lord, Jesus Christ, such love, how can it be?

The cross was path for Thee to Glory!
May I, O, Lord, continue there?
I'll bear the cross and its afflictions sore,
I will strive to tell the Story.
And live beneath Thy cross for all to see.

Amen.
