Lift high thy bloodstained shield,

May to Thy weapons yield!
Now wield in wrath Thy gleaming sword,
Smite foes defying Thee!
Repel the dark, infernal horde
From Christendom and me.
Safe in Thy hand, shall death no more
With gloom my heart dismay;
Serenely views from life's bright shore
My soul its shattered clay.
