O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
Fierce are the wild waves, storm-toss'd the shore;
Tempests are raging, fearful their roar;
Clouds move above you, darker than night,
Turn! troubled seaman, steer for the light!

Clearly the beacon shines o'er the sea,
Steer for the lighthouse shining for thee;
Tho' there are 'round you mountains of night,
Bend to your oar and steer for the light!

Safe in the harbor, anchor'd at last,
Tempests and billows, things of the past;
Day with its glory follows the night,
Happy the soul who steered for the light!

Chorus:
Clearer than noonday, shines o'er the wave,
Strong is our Captain, "mighty to save;"
Fadeless and sure, e'er to endure,
Pure beams of glory, piercing the night,
Then, struggling seaman, steer for the light!
