Author Elisha Albright Hoffman Elisha Albright Hoffman's bio information May 7, 1839 - November 25, 1929 Born: May 7, 1839, Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania. Died: November 25, 1929, Chicago, Illinois. Buried: Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois. A minister’s son, Hoffman attended Union Seminary in New Berlin, Pennsylvania, and was ordained in 1868. Afterward, he worked with the Evangelical Association’s publishing arm in Cleveland, Ohio for 11 years. He pastored in Cleveland and Grafton, Ohio, in the 1880s; at the First Presbyterian Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan, around the turn of the century; and in Cabery, Illinois (1911-1922). In his lifetime, he wrote over 2,000 Gospel songs. The 50 song books he edited include: The Evergreen, 1873 Spiritual Songs for Gospel Meetings and the Sunday School, 1878 Pentecostal Hymns No. 1 (Chicago, Illinois: Hope Publishing Company, 1894) Hymns Are You Washed in the Blood? Composer John Harrison Tenney John Harrison Tenney's bio information November 22, 1840 - 1918 Born: November 22, 1840, Rowley, Massachusetts. Born just after the presidential campaign of “Tippecanoe and Tyler, too,” Tenney was named after American president William Henry Harrison. A deacon in the Congregational Church in Linebrook, Massachusetts, he edited or was associate editor of over 30 books, and contributed to hundreds more. Arranger A. H. M. A. H. M.'s bio information June 27, 1960 - Born in the Van Wert Ohio Hospital on June 27, 1960, Alvin (Bud) Herman Manz, Jr. was the 3rd of 4 sons born to Betty Manz and firstborn to her second husband, Alvin. His older siblings, John Paul Rose, Jr. (1956) and Joseph Henry Rose (1957), were born to John Paul Rose. In 1958, John Sr. passed away leaving Betty with 2 little boys to care for until she met Alvin Manz and got married to him on October 3, 1959. Bud's younger sibling, Robert James Manz, Sr., was born on August 23, 1961. Bud never married, instead lives with his father just south of Defiance Ohio.
