O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
As a hart for water panteth
So my soul cries, Lord, to Thee!
Lord, that which can bring me comfort
Can I find alone in Thee.
In Thee is the living water;
Thirsty cries to Thee I utter;
O, when shall I by Thy grace
See Thee, Saviour, face to face?

Oh, my soul is waiting, longing,
To be closely joined to Thee;
From my eyes the tears are flowing;
Weary is my soul in me.
Day and night, without relenting,
Satan is my soul tormenting,
As he says with bitter scorn:
"See, the Lord does from Thee turn!"

Ah, how anxious and how fearful,
Is this heart of mine again!
"O, my God," I cry out, tearful,
"How long must I bear this pain?
Come and take me, Lord, and guide me
From the darkness where I hide me,
From the depths of inner night
To the glories of Thy light!"

Oh, I'd love to journey hither
To Thy house with thanks and praise,
And with all Thy children thither
Joyful voices to Thee raise,
When their knees to Thee they're bowing,
And with thanks their hearts o'erflowing,
When Thy blessing, pow'r and light
Fills their hearts with sheer delight.

Yet in sorrow I find comfort;
In the dark, I trust my God;
For my good He but intendeth,
Gratefully His help I'll laud.
When o'er me the floods are passing
And the roaring waves are lashing,
This I know: The Lord is light,
He will help me by His might.

Grace and goodness He has promised;
He's a true and mighty Lord.
Nothing then shall ever part us;
He will keep us by His word.
Though I must endure affliction,
Yet I feel my Lord's affection;
He is here my strength in life,
And helps me in ev'ry strife.
