O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
We lay the body in its tomb
Until the Lord's voice bids him "Come."
We sow the seed to rise anew,
And glorified, his God to view.

Of dust the Lord did man create;
"To dust return!" that is his fate.
He lies; he sleeps, decays, awakes
When day arrives and night forsakes.

The righteous soul with God doth live,
Who hath redeemed him from his grief,
From all his sin and all his woe,
Thru Jesus Christ, who loved him so.

With sorrow, burdened was his flesh,
But now will God his soul refresh.
In darkened valley he did go;
Now he is free from all his woe.

Faithful was he until death's day,
Now God will wipe his tears away.
What are the sorrows of this time
Against God's glory, so sublime?

So now, redeemed one, sleep and rest!
Homeward we turn to do our best,
That we in joy and trembling be
Made ready for eternity.

Oh Jesus Christ, Thy bitter death
Shall strengthen us in our last breath!
Our soul, Lord, we commit to Thee,
And joyful may our ending be!
