At the dawning of the day in the cool morning hour
When the birds sing with sweet melody,
I will call on my Lord for His guidance that day;
That He lead me aright is my plea.

As the sun does ascend to the sky up above
And my work for the day does begin,
I will call on my Lord for His wisdom and grace
To protect me from evil and sin.

In the heat of the day when temptation is near
And the burden of care presses down,
I will call on my Lord who can lighten my load;
He will help me to win heaven's crown.

When the sun does descend from the sky up above
And I ponder events of the day.
I will call on my Lord who is worthy of praise;
I will thank Him for guiding my way.

At the close of the day when the sun has gone down
And the twilight is fading away,
I will call on my Lord who will watch over me
Through the night 'till the dawning of day.
