When Jesus ascended to heaven above fulfilling His mission on earth,
He promised the Spirit, a gift of His love, for those who believe in rebirth;
A Guide that would lead us in all that we do, give heavenly vision to see,
This Spirit, so holy, a Comforter too, a part of the Trinity three!
Its purpose for man is to quicken the soul; by faith we can feel it within,
With voice very small to accomplish its goal: protect and to keep us from sin.
Its dwelling is found in the heart that is pure, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Endowed from the Father with promises sure, from God, our Creator, I AM!

This Spirit from heaven, we see not its form, like wind that does come and go,
But we can receive it if we will conform, submit to God's will, this we know.
The fruit of the Spirit from God we obtain, receiving its peace, joy and love;
Longsuffering, gentleness, faith we retain, with goodness, 'tis all from above!
With temperance, meekness, no law can condemn, all attributes prize for the soul;
Reward for the faithful, 'tis promised to them, restoring and making them whole!
We know that this Spirit within us can dewll, if no room is given for pride;
We then can rejoice, with our soul, it is well! Our Lord in our hearts will abide!

This Spirit has power to save and to heal, inspire His Word that is read;
Give courage and boldness to show God is real, with vision of heaven ahead.
Revealing God's will, then decisions are made: His faithfulness never can fail;
With strength for the weak to endure, never fade, His truth then will always prevail!
This Spirit can grieve if we heed not its voice, its counsel and wisdom not take;
It soon cannot help us if sin is our choice, God's blessings for us we forsake!
May never this happen, may steadfast and true, devoted in Spirit we be,
Yes filled with this Spirit, in Christ live anew; with promise of hope we are free!

This Spirit, so holy, a Comforter is, when burdened with trial and care;
We shurely have found that its purpose is this: to lift us to Jesus in pray'r.
In joy or in sorrow, more fullness we know, because of the depths of its pow'r;
In life or in death or wherever we go, it guides us each day, ev'ry hour!
We know thro' the ages this Spirit divine has guided all men who believe;
May now to its virtues our nature align, its prompting and teaching recieve!
Forever, eternal, God's gift from above, its blessing for us may we see;
This earnest of Spirit of infinite love, we pray now our Guide it will be!
