Once Paul the apostle did challenge a church
To stand in the strength of the Lord,
To put on the armor of God to withstand
All evil and fight with His sword!

Now Paul told the church of Ephesians to pray
For courage and vision to see.
And not to forget that they must persevere
In battle to win victory!

The battle Paul told of is here yet today
And ev'ryone must take a side.
Prepare for the battle with Christ as your King
And with you the Lord will abide!

Temptation and evil will conquer the soul
Who does not have Jesus as Lord.
For blessed assurance depend on His pow'r;
It's promised, my friend, in God's Word!

Continue to pray for the saints of the church
That Jesus will lead us aright.
And finally breth'ren be strong in the Lord
And in the great pow'r of His might!

The sword of His Spirit in hand;
Your head in His helmet, salvation,
With shield of faith take a stand!
A breastplate of righteousness on you,
