O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

Lyrics
The time in which we live in can be very trying ones,
Especially for families when all around we see
Distractions that would take us from our daughters and our sons,
From wife or husband that we love; how careful we must be!

It seems today that we must have careers that have esteem,
Or occupations that pay well to satisfy our needs.
We are so busy we forget the smile and the gleam
Our children have when we are near to share in all their deeds.

Before we know it time flies by and then the children go.
We realize that all too soon our work for them is done.
O Lord, we pray that on that day that they will surely know
The joy and peace that only comes from Jesus Christ, God's Son.

The joy and laughter of each day a family will have
Is sweeter still when Jesus is a part of ev'rything.
Especially when things go wrong His grace is like a salve
To soothe our ev'ry fear or doubt; new hope is what He brings.

O Lord, we pray that we will be a faithful parent now,
For son or daughter, wife or husband, ev'ry day anew.
And by Thy grace we can be true and keep our sacred vows,
A threefold cord not lightly rent, no evil can undo.

Chorus:
The family that prays together stays together too,
They have the blessings of the Lord in all that they may do.
Each day, O Lord, please help us pray and read the Bible too,
And as a fam'ly, work or play, to live in Christ anew.
