I was lost and could not find my way upon the path of life,
When a voice did call from heav'n above to calm the storm and strife.
I was lifted up by Jesus who did say, "Come, follow me."
And I know right then I found the way to live eternally.

As a little child I loved to hear the tale of Bethlehem,
How my Lord did come to save mankind from sin that does condemn.
That He died upon a cruel cross was hard to understand.
Now I know the meaning of that cross leads to Gloryland.

Now I am a soldier of the cross just like the saints of old.
I will try to do my very best to stand up and be bold.
And I know I can depend upon my Lord to see me through
Ev'ry battle that may come my way; I know He will be true.

Now the years may come and go for me but I do surely know
That I must be true to Jesus like the saints of long ago.
Now I find that with each passing year I love to serve my King.
I will be a soldier of His cross; His praises I will sing!
