O, let us exalt our dear Lord and proclaim,
In songs of true gratitude, praise to His name!
As songs of the angels in sweetest accord,
Our thanks and our praises shall rise to the Lord.

The Glad Hereafter

Lyrics
When passed are tears and laughter
And earthly gloom and glow,
We shall in the hereafter
The Master's dealings know.

Now oftentimes His leadings
Are where deep shadows lie,
And to our pray'rful pleadings
There seemeth no reply.

Each chastening affliction
Is sent in tender love;
And bears a benediction,
Down-wafted from above.

Though now tears flow unbidden,
Hereafter we shall say,
Our Saviour's hand though hidden,
Has led us all the way.

Chorus:
In the light of the great hereafter,
In the light life's dark paths shall be made plain,
And a fadeless crown of glory shall
Succeed the cross of pain.
